Hong Kong’s signature Lunar New Year fireworks, sponsored by the Hong Kong Jockey Club under the theme “Prosperity Gallops Across Hong Kong,” will burst over Victoria Harbour on Wednesday night at 8pm with 31,888 shells across eight acts featuring horse and auspicious motifs.

The 23-minute show begins with “Galloping into the New Year,” high-density fireworks mimicking charging horses, followed by cascading shells evoking a thundering herd.
“Celebrating the New Spring Together” displays “8”-shaped bursts and gold ingot fireworks wishing wealth and prosperity.
“Vision of Harmony” sends star-like shells resembling peaceful horses racing forward, plus a giant “auspicious” character blessing Hong Kong.
The finale, “Triumphant Achievement," concludes with large crown shells and dense barrages celebrating national prosperity and personal success.
The MTR will enhance service on seven lines—Kwun Tong, Tsuen Wan, Island, South Island, Tuen Ma, East Rail and Tung Chung—to help crowds reach both shores and disperse afterwards.
The Island Line runs every 3.1 minutes from 5pm to 8pm, then every 3 minutes until 10.30pm. The Tsuen Wan Line runs every 3 minutes from 8pm to 11.30pm. The Kwun Tong Line runs every 3.6 minutes from 8pm to 10.30pm.
South Island and Tung Chung lines every 6 minutes during peak evening hours.
East Rail offers frequent service between Admiralty and Sheung Shui, with additional trains to Lo Wu/Lok Ma Chau.
The Observatory expects increasing cloud cover but a high cloud base, so viewing should remain largely unaffected.
For the Jockey Club, the Year of the Horse holds special meaning, symbolizing perseverance and strength that aligns with Hong Kong’s “I can do it” spirit.
Besides tonight’s display, Sha Tin Racecourse hosts the “2026 Year of the Horse Raceday” tomorrow with special races and festivities.
