Drunk man arrested for vandalism at Tai Po restaurant

A 53-year-old man was arrested for alleged vandalism after causing a disturbance at a restaurant in Tai Po on Monday afternoon.

Police were called to the restaurant in the Plover Cove Garden Arcade centre at around 1pm after the man, smelling of alcohol, began shouting, throwing bowls and plates, and reportedly overturning tables.

Photos posted online show the scene during the afternoon tea period, with onlookers describing the man as "drunk and having an alcohol-induced fit." He was reportedly subdued by three people before police arrived.

The Tam surnamed man was arrested on suspicion of "criminal damage." He was taken by ambulance to Alice Ho Miu Ling Nethersole Hospital for a check-up. The case is being followed up by the Tai Po district criminal investigation team.
