Three secondary students are under investigation after allegedly sneaking out of their hotel to go drinking during a study tour in Zhongshan.
The Education Bureau has requested a formal report from HKSYCIA Wong Tai Shan Memorial College in Sham Shui Po regarding the incident involving three Form 5 students.
Reports indicate that two male students and one female student left their hotel without permission in mid-January, drank alcohol, and rented a room overnight before returning the next morning.
The misconduct was revealed after classmates reported the incident upon returning to Hong Kong.
Some parents expressed concerns over the supervision during the trip and called for stronger safety measures and moral guidance.
The Education Bureau, responding to Sing Tao Daily -- the sister publication of The Standard -- stated they are ''highly concerned'' and have contacted the school for follow-up. The school is managing the situation internally and preparing a disciplinary report.
The Bureau emphasized the importance of following rules during school activities, warning that such irresponsible behavior endangers safety, damages the school's reputation, and undermines trust with families and the community.
They urged students to cherish learning opportunities, participate proactively, and practice self-discipline. The bureau also assured that communication with the school would continue to offer support.
