A motorcyclist was injured after a rear-end collision with a van in Tate’s Cairn Tunnel this morning, suspected of failing to stop in time.
The incident occurred around 8.21am when both the van and the motorcycle were traveling in the same lane toward Sha Tin.
Dashcam footage circulating online captured the moment the van slowed due to traffic, while the following motorcycle, believed to have braked too late, smashed into the rear of the van.
The impact launched the rider into the air, sending him tumbling through the van's rear window before landing inside the cabin. The collision left the van's rear severely dented.
The rider remained conscious but suffered facial bruises and a fractured left elbow. He was transported to Prince of Wales Hospital for treatment.
Police are investigating the cause of the accident.
