Five government departments conducted a joint inspection operation at Kwai Chung Plaza in Kwai Chung on Monday to improve venue management and address public safety risks.

Personnel from the Kwai Tsing police district were joined by officers from the Fire Services Department, Customs and Excise Department, Food and Environmental Hygiene Department, and the Tobacco and Alcohol Control Office of the Department of Health.
During the operation, each department carried out checks based on its statutory duties. Police conducted a comprehensive patrol to prevent common crimes like shop theft and fraud, and distributed crime prevention leaflets.

Fire Services personnel inspected premises and licensed restaurants for fire safety compliance and distributed fire safety information. Customs officers reminded shops to procure goods carefully and avoid selling counterfeit items to protect consumer rights and intellectual property.
The FEHD inspected restaurant hygiene under food business regulations, while health department officers checked for illegal smoking in statutory no-smoking areas.
Through close communication and coordination, the departments enhanced inspection coverage and enforcement efficiency. Officers took appropriate action against any issues found, including on-site advice, issuing notices, and prosecution.
