A 71-year-old man was arrested on Thursday for allegedly attacking a Housing Department officer during a dispute over a smoking fine in Cheung Sha Wan.
The incident occurred around 2:35pm at Un Chau Estate shopping centre. The officer was attempting to issue a fixed penalty ticket to the man for smoking when an argument broke out, during which the officer was punched.
The male officer, in his 40s, suffered a hand injury and mouth pain. He was taken to Caritas Medical Centre for treatment.
Police arrested the man on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and assaulting a public officer. The case remains under investigation.
