Founded at Place Vendôme in Paris in 1906, Van Cleef & Arpels has built a reputation for creating timepieces that transcend traditional watchmaking, capturing what the company describes as “the magic of fleeting moments” through a blend of technical expertise and artistic vision.
The exhibition promises behind-the-scenes access to the métiers d’art and innovative techniques that define the brand’s creative philosophy, while guiding attendees through five thematic universes that have shaped Van Cleef & Arpels’ identity over more than a century.
Among the exhibition’s highlights is the Planétarium automaton, making its first Hong Kong appearance. The intricate timepiece captures planetary movement through complex watchmaking mechanisms, representing what organizers call the brand’s ultimate pursuit in merging celestial poetry with precision timekeeping.
The exhibition will also showcase signature collections including Perlée, Alhambra, Ludo and Cadenas, described by the brand as “jewels that tell time” — timepieces designed as wearable art objects.
The exhibition concludes with an interactive space designed as a Parisian guinguette (dance-café), featuring digital experiences and refreshments.
There will also be specially designed “Craft your Poetry of Time” workshops build on the magic of craftsmanship to inspire participating children through a realm of creativity. Each child will leave with their very own wall clock expressing their personal take on Van Cleef & Arpels’ Poetic Astronomy.
Additionally, L'ÉCOLE, School of Jewelry Arts and the brand will host discussions on the technical artistry behind mechanical watchmaking, automata, and precision instruments.
