Nearly 4,000 teachers, students, alumni, and friends gathered at the Chinese University of Hong Kong’s Chung Chi College today to kick off its year-long 75th anniversary celebrations with a lively carnival and official ceremony.

The event carried the theme “Chung Chi Spirit. Joyful Journey. Celebrating 75 Years,” serving as the prelude to a packed program of activities designed to reconnect the Chung Chi community with its rich heritage.
The ceremony was honored by the presence of eight distinguished officiating guests—Tang Ping-keung, Secretary for Securit;Chris Sun Yuk-han, Secretary for Labour and Welfare; Professor John Chai Yat-chiu, Chairman of the CUHK Council; Dr Norman Chan Tak-lam, Vice-Chairman of the CUHK Council and Chairman of the CCC Board of Trustees; Professor Dennis Lo Yuk-ming, Vice-Chancellor and President of CUHK; Professor Ko Wing-hung, Associate Vice-President and University Dean of Students of CUHK, and Chairman of the CCC 75th Anniversary Celebration Organising Committee; Professor Kwan Mei-po, Head of CCC; and Anthony Ngai King-kwok, Chairman of CCC Alumni Association and the Carnival Committee of the CCC 75th Anniversary Celebration Organising Committee.
The ceremony featured a symbolic group drum-beating and chant expressing unity with CUHK, followed by over 2,000 people singing the college anthem in what became the largest recorded performance of the song.
A lighthearted tug-of-war led by two guests showcased the spirit of teamwork and perseverance.
The carnival offered more than 80 diverse booths and activities, including games, sports zones, creative markets by staff and students, bouncy castles, themed photo spots, food stalls, interactive departmental displays, and a pet-friendly area.
Stage performances brought energy with cheerleading, Latin dance, flamenco, singing,g and freestyle jump rope by Chung Chi and CUHK students.
Over the coming year, the college will host thematic talks, a talent contest, sports competitions, a cruise tour and a grand anniversary gala, providing opportunities for the community to celebrate 75 years of legacy, joy and growth.
