First introduced as a pilot in 2021, the program proved successful and was made permanent and expanded in 2023, with the bureau collaborating annually with Cyberport and HKSTP to provide startup internship placements.
Under the latest round, funded by the bureau, the two organisations will offer a total of 200 internship positions lasting 3 to 6 months.
The roles cover areas such as data analysis, fintech, biotechnology, AI applications, business development, marketing and design.
Participating startups may hire interns on a full-time, part-time or hybrid basis.
Eligible applicants must be aged 18 to 30 and hold a Hong Kong Permanent Identity Card as full-time post-secondary students (including sub-degree, bachelor’s, or postgraduate programs) or hold a Hong Kong Identity Card as local full-time post-secondary students in the same categories.
In addition to the internship work, Cyberport and HKSTP will arrange training sessions, entrepreneurship experience activities and study visits to mainland China startups.
Full program details and available internship positions are now available on the dedicated pages of Cyberport and HKSTP.
Interested young people can submit applications directly to the companies through the online system on those pages.
