The accident occurred at 6.18am outside Kwai Wo House in Lek Yuen Estate. The cleaner, surnamed Wong, was pushing a trolley when the SUV, bearing a blue T-plate for test drives, turned right out of the estate car park and struck him. He was thrown several meters, semi-conscious, and taken to Prince of Wales Hospital. He is not in life-threatening condition.
The 32-year-old driver, surnamed Cheng, a local license holder, passed alcohol and drug tests. The case is being handled by the New Territories South traffic investigation unit.

The Housing Department said Wong was a former employee of an outsourced cleaning company who left in December last year. It is unclear why he was at the site. The department has contacted his family and will assist police and provide support.
This is the second incident involving a cleaner being hit in a week. On New Year's Eve, a 57-year-old female street cleaner was killed by a truck in Yau Ma Tei. The Association for the Rights of Industrial Accident Victims called for improved safety gear, suggesting high-visibility vests with flashing lights to increase visibility.
The Geely Galaxy V900, which started global pre-sales on Tuesday, is a hybrid with a top speed of 190km/h. It comes in three versions priced from 319,000 to 389,000 yuan.
Blue T-plates are for left-hand-drive vehicles for re-export purposes. Drivers must carry the plate, licence, authorisation and travel log. Failure to produce documents can lead to a HK$2,000 fine and licence cancellation.
