The government has announced the appointment of Jeffrey Lam Kin-fung as Chairman of the Vocational Training Council (VTC), with a two-year term commencing on January 1 next year.
In a statement released on Tuesday (Dec 9), Secretary for Education Choi Yuk-lin said Lam has a deep understanding of multiple industries and extensive professional networks, which will enable him to provide strategic direction and strengthen collaboration across sectors.
She expressed confidence that Lam will offer “invaluable expertise and strategic vision” to support the VTC’s future development, citing his long-standing commitment to vocational and professional education as well as his broad experience in the commercial and industrial fields.
Alongside Lam’s appointment, the government also named Wingco Lo Kam-wing as Deputy Chairman and Jack Chan Hoi as a new member. Paul Chong Kin-lit has been reappointed as Deputy Chairman, while Rocky Cheng Chung-ngam, Alan Cheung Yick-lun and Monica Lee-Müller Yuk-har were reappointed as members.
Choi also paid special tribute to outgoing Chairman Tony Tai Chark-tong, who has served in the role since 2020.
Under Tai’s leadership, the VTC achieved a number of significant milestones, including the opening of new campuses, deepening engagement with industry, and expanding its networks both on the mainland and internationally, she said.
