Hong Kong will send its largest-ever delegation to the 12th National Games for Persons with Disabilities and the 9th National Special Olympic Games.
More than 280 athletes will compete in 14 competition events and four mass-participation events of the National Games for Persons with Disabilities and seven Special Olympic disciplines.
Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau will co-host the Games -- held every four years -- from December 8 to 15.
The Hong Kong team held its flag presentation ceremony on Monday at the Tiu Keng Leng Sports Centre, where Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu handed the regional flag to Rosanna Law Shuk-pui, Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism and head of the delegation.
Lee encouraged the athletes to shine on the national stage and pledged that Hong Kong would host four competition events and one mass-participation event with simplicity, safety and excellence.
Several competitions will take place in Hong Kong, including Special Olympic table tennis and Para table tennis (TT11 classification) at Tsuen Wan Sports Centre, wheelchair fencing at Ma On Shan Sports Centre and boccia at Kai Tak Arena. Para dance sport was held in September.
Law said preparations are in their final stages and praised Hong Kong’s para athletes for their recent international success, including three gold, four silver and one bronze medal at the 2024 Paris Paralympics.
Law added the government has allocated more than HK$1 billion for the Sports Institute in 2025-26 to train over 1,600 elite athletes and support six Tier A and four Tier B para sports.

Hong Kong Jockey Club will award cash incentives to medalists at the para Games under its Athlete Incentive Awards Scheme. Gold medalists will receive HK$187,500 for individual events and HK$375,000 for team events, with silver and bronze medalists also eligible for scaled rewards.
HKJC has also pledged more than HK$500 million to support the Hong Kong and Guangdong events.
Hong Kong taekwondo athlete Ben Ho Nim-ching, who has won a bronze medal in the 12th National Games for Persons with Disabilities, will receive HK$37,500 from the Scheme.
