The number of visitors from Shenzhen to Hong Kong has increased by 22 percent since the resumption and expansion of the multiple-entry individual visit Scheme in December 2024, according to Shenzhen immigration authorities.
The measure, which took effect on December 1 last year, allows both Shenzhen permanent residents and individuals holding residence permits to travel to Hong Kong an unlimited number of times within a one-year period, with each stay not exceeding seven days.
According to China Police Daily, the authorities have issued a total of 1.417 million multiple-entry individual visit endorsements for travel to Hong Kong.
A resident surnamed Jiang stated that traveling to Hong Kong is now very convenient, as the application process is simple and border clearance is smooth.
Meanwhile, the average daily passenger flow at a major checkpoint, Luo Hu Port, has reached 717,000 under this policy.
Hong Kong has also reported positive statistics, with the average hotel occupancy rate generally reaching 90 percent during the National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival holiday.
