An 80-year-old woman has died after being hit by a taxi in Sau Mau Ping on Sunday night.
The incident occurred around 10pm when the taxi was traveling along Shun On Road toward Lee On Road and struck the elderly pedestrian near Tin Lok House of Shun Tin Estate.
The victim was thrown onto the hood and crashed through the windshield before the taxi came to a stop about 10 meters later. She was transported unconscious to United Christian Hospital but was later pronounced dead.
The taxi sustained a dented hood and shattered windshield, with a large pool of blood visible at the scene. Police have cordoned off the area to investigate.
Initial reports suggest poor lighting and obstructed visibility from nearby vehicles may have contributed to the accident.
