The major sporting event, jointly hosted by Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macau, is set to take place from next month, with Hong Kong serving as the venue for eight competition events.
The Hong Kong Tourism Board projects that these visitors will not only provide a substantial lift to the local catering, retail, and hotel industries but are also expected to be higher-spending, further fuelling tourism revenue.
Echoing this optimistic outlook, Executive Director of the Federation of Hong Kong Hotel Owners Caspar Tsui Ying-wai confirmed that over 50,000 hotel rooms have already been block-booked for athletes, VIPs, and media personnel.
He expressed confidence that accommodation supply would remain sufficient throughout the event period.
"We hope the National Games will allow visitors to experience Hong Kong's unique culture and help drive the city's long-term tourism development," said Tsui.
He also suggested the government consider creating a one-stop online platform, as tickets are currently sold through official channels, to allow visitors to conveniently bundle ticket purchases with hotel bookings.
Meanwhile, Hong Kong Tourism Association Executive Director Timothy Chui Ting-pong reported that the industry has already begun receiving inquiries and booking requests from mainland tourists, primarily concerning hotel and transport arrangements.
Noting that many visitors plan to extend their stay for leisure after the games, Chui revealed that travel agencies are preparing to design specialised local itineraries to cater to this demand.
