In recent years, Hong Kong’s taxi industry has faced many challenges. Wong admits that the stressful city life means passengers often get into the cab with grievances, occasionally taking their bad mood out on the driver. Wong always faces this with optimism: “Never get angry while driving. I always try to keep a joyful atmosphere when serving my passengers.”

Wong shared that he first observes the passengers’ expression in the rearview mirror. If he sees them frowning and complaining, he listens patiently first, then shows his care courteously, then channel his positive energy and try to switch to a more pleasant topic. Wong noted that it works quite well: “Some passengers feel better by the time they get off, and even care to thank me before getting off!”
Starting with himself, Wong hopes to show passengers the profes-sionalism and dedication of taxi drivers in Hong Kong. Such simple yet sincere attitude makes him stand out in the industry. This year, in the Taxi Service Commendation Scheme jointly held by the Transport Department and the Committee On Taxi Service Quality, Wong received both the “Quality Taxi Driver” and “Good Driver, Good Service” awards. This “newcomer,” having been in the industry for only three years, has already stepped onto the awards podium twice.
