Two teenage girls fell from height in separate incidents in Hong Kong within 24 hours, leaving one dead and another hospitalized, police said.
A 19-year-old woman, surnamed Tang, was reported missing by her family around 7pm on Wednesday (Aug 6) after she left her home in Yat Tung Estate, Tung Chung.
She was later found unconscious on a rooftop platform of Ying Yat House and was pronounced dead at the scene.
No suicide note was found, and initial investigations revealed that she had posted suicidal thoughts on social media earlier that day. It is believed that she had been struggling with emotional distress in the period leading up to the incident.
Police do not suspect foul play, but the case remains under investigation.
As for the second incident, a 15-year-old girl fell from Mei Wo House in Wo Che Estate, Sha Tin, at around 2am on Thursday morning (Aug 7).
Security guards found her lying on a second-floor platform and immediately called emergency services. She remained conscious and was rushed to Prince of Wales Hospital for treatment.
A handwritten farewell note was found at the scene. It is understood that she has a history of emotional distress. The case is also under investigation.
