Hong Kong Taxi Council relaunches three-month courtesy campaign
The Hong Kong Taxi Council has brought back courtesy ambassadors for its annual courtesy campaign this year, in an effort to enhance the relationship between taxi drivers and passengers.
These ambassadors — dressed in orange vests — will assist passengers with boarding and alighting, distribute promotional leaflets highlighting taxi service standards, and provide guidelines to passengers at several high-traffic taxi stands including Admiralty MTR station, Times Square and the Heung Yuen Wai Boundary Control Point.
The Taxi Council said the event will last for three months and that all ambassadors have received foundational training and are familiar with taxi operating regulations.
The chairman of the Hong Kong Taxi Council, Ryan Wong Cheuk-pong, said the campaign aims to promote the importance of courteous service, which enables drivers and passengers to minimize unnecessary misunderstandings by improving communication.
The taxi courtesy campaign was first introduced in 2019.
A survey conducted by the Council revealed that the average ratings for overall taxi service and driver service quality were only 58.4 and 56.5, respectively. The Council aims to enhance the image of the taxi sector through the campaign.
