The annual Hong Kong Book Fair will spotlight culinary culture through exhibitions that integrate culinary arts and literature, with focal themes including medicinal diets, festive cuisines, and dining etiquette.
In recognition of the fair's 35th edition this year, admission will be complimentary for individuals born in 1990.
Organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), the event will take place from July 16 to 22 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, concurrently with the Sports & Leisure Expo and World of Snacks.
The fair will feature 770 exhibitors and over 620 activities, all accessible with a single ticket.
A newly established Cultural and Creative Products Zone will showcase Hong Kong's intangible cultural heritage alongside Macau-themed designs and Forbidden City-inspired stationery.
Sophia Chong Suk-fan, Deputy Executive Director of HKTDC, remarked that Hong Kong's esteemed reputation as a culinary capital renders food literature an ideal gateway for fostering east-meets-west exchanges.
She hopes the theme "food culture and future living" will inspire readers to explore food-related works and the cultural stories behind them.
Prominent speakers at this year's fair include Andrew Chui from the esteemed Tai Ping Koon Restaurant, which has a history spanning 160 years, as well as Sian "Leo" Proctor, the first female commercial astronaut from the United States.
The "renowned writers" seminar will showcase 16 authors, among them are celebrated Lung Ying-tai, Japanese writer Rie Kudan who focused on artificial intelligence and 16-year-old Vietnamese novelist Nguyen Hanh Phuong.
Ticket prices will be set at HK$30 for adults, HK$20 for tourists, and HK$10 for children, with free entry granted to those born in 1990.
