Hong Kong’s Centre for Food Safety (CFS) has instructed retailers to temporarily suspend sales of Haribo’s Happy Cola F!ZZ gummies following the discovery of cannabis contamination in the Netherlands.
A spokesperson of CFS confirmed that no local cases of illness have been reported in connection with the product but stated the precautionary measure was implemented as a safety protocol.
Authorities will conduct laboratory tests on the withdrawn products and closely monitor the situation, assuring the public that further updates will be provided if any safety concerns emerge.
The decision came after Haribo, a German confectionery brand, issued a product recall in the Netherlands, where authorities detected traces of cannabis in the candy.
Several consumers reported illness after consumption, including dizziness and headaches.
The affected product is the 1000-gram bag marked with batch number “L341” and carrying a January 2026 expiration date, according to Haribo.
