The Newspaper Society of Hong Kong celebrated excellence in journalism on Friday at its prestigious Hong Kong News Awards ceremony, recognizing outstanding work across 78 categories in reporting, writing, photography, and layout design.
The annual awards, widely regarded as the most authoritative journalism competition in Hong Kong's media industry, saw The Standard's Deputy Executive Editor Edwin Gabutina achieve an unprecedented clean sweep in the English headline category, taking all three top honors.

Gabutina claimed the winner title for his attention-grabbing "Total ban on e-cigs may just be a few puffs away," with his other entries "Nightlife sector in high spirits as liquor tax cut" and "It's positive: birth rate bounces back" securing first and second runner-up positions respectively.
