Veteran actor Chow Yun-fat, known for his charismatic presence and approachable nature, recently encountered mixed reactions following a fan interaction in Shanghai. At 69 years old, Chow, who first entered the entertainment industry at 18 by attending an acting school, has enjoyed a stellar career, rising to fame with his role in the 1980 TVB drama "The Bund" and later becoming an international film superstar.

Chow, often celebrated for his willingness to engage with fans, was captured in a video while running alone on a Shanghai beach. The video, uploaded on Xiaohongshu by a netizen, was captioned, "Chow Yun-fat spotted running on Shanghai beach, happily taking photos with police and passersby, fans wearing masks show cute expressions after excitedly taking photos."

In the footage, Chow, dressed in a black long-sleeve sports shirt, black shorts, and a black hat, is seen interacting with fans, including local security personnel, pausing to pose for selfies.

During one such interaction, a young girl in a white top and mask excitedly approached Chow for a selfie. Chow took her phone to assist with the photo but appeared displeased when the girl kept her mask on. He stared at her until she pulled it down, and only then did he snap the photo.

This incident sparked a debate among netizens, with some criticizing Chow for what they perceived as a "fake smile" and accusing him of being "two-faced." Others defended him, empathizing with the constant pressure celebrities face and acknowledging the difficulty of maintaining a smile for every photo.
