Local Canto-pop singer Shirley Kwan Suk-yee was reportedly in critical condition after being rushed to the intensive care unit for emergency treatment, according to sources.
It is suggested that her father and 23-year-old son were spotted at the hospital, visibly distressed.
The mother-son duo has been known for their close relationship, and it is reported that her son immediately returned to Hong Kong from the United States upon learning of her condition.
Sources stated that Kwan’s friends and family have been visiting the hospital regularly, but they have not brought food or soup, indicating that Kwan might require tube feeding.
The 59-year-old singer rose to fame from her distinct singing styles in the 1990s, reaching peak popularity with the song “Happy are those in love.”
However, her career took a turn when she withdrew from the music scene to give birth out of wedlock, alongside reports of controversial behavior, including suicide attempts and an alleged assault on hotel staff.
