Hong Kong stocks reversed early losses and closed higher on Tuesday, led by financial and tech heavyweights.
The benchmark Hang Seng Index rose 99 points, or 0.43 percent, to 23,381 after dropping more than 100 points in the morning. The market turnover was HK$203.26 billion.
The Hang Seng Tech Index climbed 24 points, or 0.48 percent, to 5,182.
Shares of Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing (0388) and China Life Insurance (2628) both gained more than 2.5 percent. Meituan (3690), Li Auto (2015), and NetEase (9999) all grew by over 1.5 percent. Alibaba (9988) increased by 0.9 percent.
The best performers among blue chip stocks were pharmaceutical companies, with CSPC Pharmaceutical (1093) and Sino Biopharmaceutical (1177) up over 4.6 percent.
In the mainland, the Shanghai Stock Exchange Composite Index fell 6 points, or 0.18 percent, to 3,340 while the Shenzhen Stock Exchange Component Index dropped by 5 points, or 0.29 percent, to 1,971.
