Cathay Pacific Airways (0293) carried over 810,000 passengers between India and Hong Kong last year, the city’s flagship airline is stepping up efforts to linking the Greater Bay Area with overseas markets.

Speaking at an event in celebration of resuming passenger flights to Hyderabad, the fourth largest city of India, Cathay chief customer and commercial officer Lavinia Lau Hoi-zee also revealed that the airline transported over 130,000 tonnes of cargo to the country.
Cathay’s direct flight service between Hong Kong and Hyderabad will run three times a week upon launch on March 30, and increase to five times a week from September 1.
Lau said Cathay continues to see India as a region of strategic importance and the resumption of flights to Hyderabad will offer access to one of India's leading cities, known for its rich heritage and dynamic technology sector.
Together with the new Hyderabad service, Cathay Pacific will operate a total of 43 passenger return flights per week to five Indian cities which also include Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Chennai.
Hyderabad is among the more than 100 destinations that the Cathay Group will reach within this year.
