HKT denies report on PCCW Global sale

HKT (6823) has denied a Next Magazine report saying executive chairman Richard Li Tzar-kai is weighing the sale of PCCW Global.

HKT said the report is incorrect and has begun legal proceedings against the person involved.

The report said Li is considering selling the international arm of HKT, due to concerns that the national security law will cause mistrust of foreign companies and hold a pessimistic view on the unit's prospect.

Bloomberg reported earlier this month that HKT is considering options including a sale of its international enterprise unit, PCCW Global, citing people familiar with the matter.
