Hong Kong actress Cecilia Cheung Pak-chi has won a High Court lawsuit filed by her former manager Yu Yuk-hing and AEG Entertainment Group Limited on Tuesday (Jun 16), with the court ruling in her favor and awarding her legal costs.
The plaintiffs alleged Cheung breached an exclusive global management agreement signed in 2011 and a 2012 film contract after receiving about HK$42.76 million in advance film fees but failing to complete six film projects.
They sought damages of at least HK$12.76 million.
Cheung’s defense argued the management agreement was forged and her signature was falsified, and disputed the alleged payments, saying arrangements were handled by her assistant at the time.
The court dismissed the claim and ruled in Cheung’s favor, awarding costs.
