Kweichow Moutai confirms printing error on 2026 Year of the Horse packaging, offers exchanges

Kweichow Moutai confirmed a printing mistake on the side of the 500 ml 53% vol classic edition Year of the Horse box, where the star name “Mao” from the Twenty-Eight Mansions Chinese constellations system. was misprinted as “Ang,” and announced free exchanges at its self-operated stores.  

The error appeared in the Western White Tiger constellation section of the star map on the packaging. Moutai stated it has arranged overtime for supply chain staff to correct the issue. 

Consumers who have received the product can visit nearby Moutai stores for replacement.  

The 2026 Year of the Horse zodiac series, including classic, premium enjoyment, and gift box versions, went on sale on January 6. 

While some netizens joked that the “error edition” might gain higher collectible value and refused to exchange, the company prioritizes fixing the mistake.
