The incident occurred around 1am on Saturday, when the woman surnamed Wan reported the elderly man, Lee, as unconscious on Pei Ho Street. He was later confirmed dead upon arrival at the Caritas Medical Centre.
Following the police investigation, the officers found that Wan had provided false information, as CCTV footage captured the deceased being moved from a nearby building to the front of a salon.
According to reports, the deceased was a cleaner who had been living alone at a unit on Lai Chi Kok Road for the past four years and owed nearly two months of rent.
Upon examination, signs of rigor mortis and livor mortis were discovered on the body, along with bruises on the left arm and suspected injection marks on the back of the deceased’s left hand.
Additionally, CPR attempts were evident on the deceased’s chest.
Sources revealed that Lee had suddenly collapsed while gambling at an illegal establishment on Yee Kuk Street, prompting Wen to allegedly move the deceased outdoors and falsely claim to be a bystander to avoid investigation of her gambling operation.
As the authorities gathered more information with CCTV footage and witnesses, Wan was arrested on Saturday evening in Cheung Sha Wan on suspicion of misleading officers with false information, illegal corpse disposal and managing an unlawful gambling establishment.
The woman is currently in custody for further investigation.
