The annual event, organized by the Hong Kong Theatres Association as part of the Hong Kong Pop Culture Festival 2025, aims to make cinema-going more accessible while promoting local film culture.
This year's Cinema Day will see cinemas offering the same affordable HK$30 movie tickets that have drawn crowds in previous years. The deal applies to all regular screenings throughout the day at all 52 participating cinemas operated by association members, though special screenings and private bookings are excluded from the promotion.
The participating venues span across all districts, with 14 locations on Hong Kong Island, 19 in Kowloon, and 20 in the New Territories, ensuring convenient access for residents throughout the city.
While senior citizen tickets priced below HK$30 will remain available, other concessionary tickets will be suspended for the day, with all tickets sold at HK$30.
Tickets will become available starting at noon on May 6 on both online platforms and physical box offices at participating cinemas.
To give as many moviegoers as possible the chance to enjoy the Cinema Day, individual transactions will be limited to four tickets each. Organizers recommend planning ahead and booking early, as popular showtimes are expected to sell out quickly.
