The disruption occurred after both a 400mm-diameter freshwater pipe and a 200mm-diameter saltwater pipe burst early Monday (Mar 31) on Tsat Tsz Mui Road, affecting drinking water and flushing water supplies, respectively.
The company stated that it had provided appropriate assistance to affected businesses, including lending liquefied petroleum gas stoves to restaurants and elderly care homes for emergency use.
Gas service was partially restored to some buildings by around 11am on Tuesday. However, restaurant staff complained that many customers left upon discovering that no hot meals could be served.
Moreover, some restaurants in the affected area reported a 50 percent drop in business after the incident.
