The incident occurred around 7pm yesterday (Mar 24). A passerby noticed the boy and promptly alerted the police.
Upon finding the boy, the police observed visible injuries and escorted him to his home at Lung Chi House, Lower Wong Tai Sin Estate, located at 98 Ching Tak Street, for further investigation.
The boy initially claimed that he was beaten with a hanger by his mother, but it was later revealed that he had accidentally injured himself while riding his bicycle.
The police arrested the boy's 35-year-old mother, surnamed Ng, on suspicion of "ill-treatment or neglect by those in charge of a child or young person."
During the police investigation, Ng explained that she had fallen asleep due to illness and was unaware that her son had left the house. She attributed her son's injuries to his carelessness.
The boy, who is in K3 at a local kindergarten, lives with his mother and 11-year-old sister.
The sister also confirmed that his injuries were the result of a fall from his bicycle a few days earlier.
Both children were taken to the hospital for examination. The case remains under investigation as authorities work to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
