The 20-year-old Wong, currently ranking 128th globally, faced off against the world number 89, Walton, who clinched the match 7-6, 4-6, 6-4 after battling for two hours and 18 minutes at the Hard Rock Stadium.
The match began with Wong breaking Walton's serve early, leading 5-4 by the ninth game. However, he subsequently lost two consecutive games, bringing the set to a 6-6 tie. In the crucial tiebreaker, Wong was narrowly defeated 8-6, losing the first set 7-6.
In the second set, Wong displayed resilience, breaking Walton's serve twice and securing the set 6-4, thereby leveling the match at one set each.
The decisive third set saw Wong ahead at 4-3 at one point, but Walton rallied to win three consecutive games, ultimately taking the set 6-4 and the match.
