The incident occurred at around 8.56am when the woman was undergoing cupping therapy at a blind massage parlor on Cheung Sha Wan Road.
It is suspected that the spraying of essential oil accidentally caught fire during the therapy and lit up the bed sheet, resulting in burns to the victim.
Parlor staffers had already extinguished the fire when firefighters responded to the scene.
The victim suffered from burns to her back and right arm, and she was taken to Caritas Medical Centre for treatment after receiving first-aid on site.
According to reports, this was the victim's first visit to the massage parlor.
An examination at the hospital found second-degree burns to her right shoulder, which covered an area of approximately one foot.
The police subsequently notified the massage parlor’s manager to return to the scene for further inquiries.
An investigation is ongoing.
