The Hong Kong Tourism Board announced on Friday that the total number of visitors to Hong Kong in the first two months of 2025 reached 8.4 million - a seven percent increase compared to the previous year.

The mainland China market demonstrated a stable performance with a cumulative total of 6.5 million visitors in the first two months, marking a 4 percent year-on-year increase.
Meanwhile, the momentum in non-mainland markets continued to grow, recording over 1.91 million visitors in the first two months, representing a substantial 20 percent year-on-year growth, said the board.
The board noted that short-haul markets performed exceptionally well, recording a total of 1.13 million visitors in the first two months, showing a significant 26 percent year-on-year increase.
Among these, visitors from Southeast Asian markets such as the Philippines, Indonesia, Japan, and South Korea saw growth rates exceeding 30 percent compared to the previous year.
As for long-haul markets, there were a total of 500,000 visitors in the first two months, marking a 20 percent year-on-year increase. Notably, visitors from Australia stood out with a remarkable 34 percent year-on-year growth.
