A construction site in Central has seen workers protest for non-payment of wages, with the amount in question said to be over HK$1.5 million.
The group of around 40 construction workers were seen protesting outside the construction site on Elgin Street. They displayed banners demanding the payback of all the arrear wages.
The construction site, located at 33-47A Elgin Street, is developed by Henderson Land, with the construction undertaken by Yick Hing Construction Company Limited.
According to information, the site will feature two mixed-use properties, each with 27 floors, offering a total of 260 residential units.
It was understood the workers have been withheld two to three months’ salary worth a total of HK$1.5 million.
