In the past three years, more cherry blossom trees have been planted along the waterfront, transforming the area into a stunning scene that surpasses its former beauty.
Steven Yiu Siu-chung, the Airport Authority's executive director of airport operations, said on Wednesday that the first batch of cherry blossoms has already bloomed, and the second batch is expected to bloom in about two weeks.
Yiu highlighted that the site has been equipped with lounge chairs, coffee tables, and viewing paths adorned with cherry blossom patterns. A grassy area has also been added for visitors to rest and picnic.
He noted that the garden welcomes visitors every day until 8pm, where an enchanting display of multicolored spotlights dances among the cherry blossoms allowing visitors to enjoy the blooms even as night falls.
The site attracted 120,000 visitors during the approximate two-week cherry blossom season last year, and an even larger crowd is expected this year, Yiu added.
