Known as Hong Kong’s “Bird Paradise,” the Reserve is an important habitat and staging site for waterbirds, with around 60,000 birds creating a spectacular scene as they make their annual winter migration to roost in Deep Bay.
The overnight experience will allow participants to witness a renowned Mai Po sunset on the first evening, along with a one-hour tour of the freshwater marsh. Afterward, they will rest at the Peter Scott Visitor Centre.
Meanwhile, a four-hour guided tour of various Mai Po wetland habitats including fishponds, gei wai, reedbeds, mangroves, and freshwater ponds will be provided on the second day.
Participants can observe the birds through binoculars and explore the wooden footpath, as much of the Reserve’s wildlife awakens and becomes active at dawn.
Additionally, the center reminded participants that they must be at least eight years old and should be prepared to walk at least 3 kilometers outdoors during the day and night activities.
