The student shared a roughly six-second clip on Threads, titled “1.24am, look like I have to spend the night here” on Wednesday (Feb 13), depicting his situation of being trapped at the station.
The video captured the poster filming the A2 exit to Ping Shek Estate, which was locked with a metal gate despite the lights remaining on.
In the video, the poster can be seen filming from left to right and talking to his friend, but their conversation is not audible.
According to the poster’s social media profile, the student attends a direct-subsidy secondary school in Kwun Tong.
The post quickly turned into a hot topic online, with some people concerned about how the victim got out of the situation, but the poster did not respond.
While some users jokingly commented “achievement unlocked” and “MTR is my home”, others questioned the authenticity of the incident, noting a variety of solutions such as finding a station officer, waiting for night shift maintenance staff, or even reporting to the police.
According to records, the last train from Choi Hung Station heading to Kwun Tong departed at 1.18am.
An MTR spokesman responded to The Standard’s sister news outlet Sing Tao Daily, confirming that the incident occurred in the early hours of February 11 after the last train had already left.
The spokesman stated that staff had arranged for the two passengers to leave after noticing them lingering at the A2 exit.
