A hill fire broke out in Kai Kung Leng, Pat Heung in Yuen Long on Saturday, and burned for over 17 hours.

The fire initially erupted at about 5.30 pm yesterday (Jan 11), with a fire line extending up to 80 meters, later dividing into lengths of 200 meters and 500 meters, respectively.
The blaze continued throughout the night, with firefighters battling the flames continuously. The two fire lines were visible from Tai Mo Shan, looking towards the Kai Kung Leng area.
By around 4 am, firefighters reported that the two fire lines had been reduced to 100 meters and 200 meters, respectively.
As of 10.30 am today, the hill fire has been active for 17 hours. Despite the efforts, there are still two fire lines, each covering an area of 10 meters by 5 meters. After battling the fire overnight, the Government Flying Service deployed water bombs in the morning, and the Civil Aid Service also ascended the hill to assist in controlling the fire.
The firefighters reported that the fire was brought under control at 10.40 am.
