This second warning was issued by the observatory at 12:55 pm. The first one took effect this morning starting at 6 am and was canceled at 8.10 am.
An active southwest monsoon is bringing heavy showers and thunderstorms to the coast of Guangdong, the weather watchdog said.
Locally, more than 30 millimeters of rainfall has been recorded over many places. Rainfall has even exceeded 50 millimeters in Tai Po and Tsuen Wan.
Heavy showers are still expected to affect Hong Kong shortly. Members of the public should stay alert and continue to be aware of changes in weather.
Citizens are advised to stay away from watercourses since heavy rain may bring about flash floods.
