Representatives from the eight mainland cities that recently joined the Individual Visit Scheme - including Lhasa, Harbin and Uygur Autonomous Region - are visiting Hong Kong to familiarize themselves with the city and help promote it.
HKTB arranged the five-day itinerary, which includes visits to Central Market, Tai Kwun, Ngong Ping Village, Disneyland, Ocean Park, the Peak Tower, the Hong Kong Palace Museum, and M+.
An executive director of a Tibet travel agency, surnamed Zhang, enjoyed the food and the view in the city. He was also impressed by the attractions he visited, including Central Market and Tai Kwun.
Liu, the general manager of a Gansu travel company, said she experienced the hospitality and friendliness of the locals. She added that the shopping experience in Hong Kong is also incredible and hoped the duty-free allowance for mainlanders could be increased from the current 5,000 yuan.
A deputy general manager of a Harbin travel agency, surnamed Huang, said visitors from Harbin had to spend a night in Shenzhen before coming to Hong Kong. However, the opening of five-hour direct flights makes it more convenient and attractive for the citizens to reach Hong Kong.
She said the expansion of the Individual Visit Scheme has led to a 20 percent increase in inquiries about visiting Hong Kong. The agencies are actively coordinating to provide itineraries for different groups and are hoping for a 20 percent increase in business.
