The driver who crashed his car into four vehicles in Sham Shui Po to escape from police on Thursday night has been arrested, while the elderly woman knocked down by him was certified dead on Friday afternoon.

It is understood that the 22-year-old driver surnamed Tong was arrested on Friday. This came after police also arrested the 32-year-old owner of the car, surnamed Poon, in Sheung Shui in the early hours of Friday.
Police arrested a 19-year-old man surnamed Cheng as well for helping Tong hide.
After the incident, the 66-year-old female pedestrian surnamed Lau sustained a severe injury to her head and fell unconscious. She was rushed to Princess Margaret Hospital but was eventually pronounced dead at 4.58 pm on Friday.
The driver abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene on foot towards Golden Computer Arcade.
Police later seized about 30g of crack cocaine and 20g of “ice” worth around HK$52,000. They also found that the driver didn’t possess a valid driving license.
The case was listed as manslaughter, trafficking in dangerous drugs and abetting in a crime. The case is now being handled by the Sham Shui Po district crime squad and the investigation is ongoing.
