Secretary for Justice Paul Lam Ting-kwok penned a letter Monday to urge all Department of Justice staff members to vote in the upcoming district council election.
As the voting day draws closer, more and more chiefs of bureaux and government departments have been urging citizens and civil servants to vote on December 10.
Lam said in a social media post today that he had sent a letter to all the staff in the DoJ to encourage them and their families to use their crucial votes to build a better society together.
He said that the district councilors can serve as spokespersons and intermediaries for the citizens and the government, speaking up for the community on district affairs.
The justice minister disagrees with people who think giving up the opportunity to vote is not a big deal, as he believes citizens voting for a candidate of their choice will make the person do their job more effectively as he bears the public expectations.
