Speaking at the opening ceremony of a training camp on Wednesday, Lee told students that their bond with classmates, teachers, life experiences, and responsibilities towards society learned in school were also precious.
The city's leader encouraged students to optimistically welcome their future and to work hard so that they can embark on a new chapter in their lives.
Chief Secretary Eric Chan Kwok-ki also cited a Chinese poem on Facebook to remind students that the Chinese plum, also known as meihua, would only blossom after surviving the harsh winter.
Chan continued that as long as the students are heading towards the right direction, have a clear goal and are determined to overcome their challenges, they too can blossom like the Chinese plum.
Chan noted the DSE exams are only one of the many challenges in life and there are still many choices for students who didn’t attain the tops score.
