A 45-year-old Indian man was arrested for drunk driving in the early hours on Friday after crashing his black Tesla into the wall of a housing estate in Ho Man Tin.
The crash occurred at around 3 am today when the car was traveling along Fat Kwong Street towards Hung Hom. The runaway car crossed into the adjacent driving lane in the opposite direction, mounted onto the sidewalk and crashed into the wall as it rebounded back to the middle of the driving lane.
The front of the car started smoking and citizens passing by the scene immediately filed a police report.
The car stopped smoking by the time paramedics and police arrived at the scene. Police later carried out an alcohol breath test and the driver failed. It was understood that the driver’s test result reached up to 119 degrees.
The driver was then arrested for drunk driving and was remanded in custody.
The car’s front was seriously damaged and two of the wheels came off the vehicle. The airbag was deployed and about 13 meters of the fence railing on the sidewalk was ruined as well.
