A 20-year-old Hong Kong student was arrested on suspicion of participating in a riot after he had recently returned to the city. He was released on bail pending trial.
Cheung Tat-wing was suspected of participating in a protest near the Hong Kong Polytechnic University on November 18, 2019. He was arrested again and sent to quarantine when arriving in Hong Kong recently
He was charged with participating in a riot with others on November 18, 2019, at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, in the area of Cheong Wan Road and Science Museum Road.
The case was brought in front of Kowloon City Magistrates' Courts on Wednesday, where Magistrate Andrew Mok Tze-chung adjourned it until July 22 at the prosecution's request.
During this period, the defendant was released on bail for HK$20,000, with his father signing sureties and surrendering his travel documents.
