An Emperor Group employee was among five people arrested by national security police today in connection to the Returning Valiant bomb plot case.
The four men and a woman arrested were aged between 15 and 37. They were arrested under article 24 of the national security law for organizing terrorist activities.
Sources said two of them, including a 17-year-old female secondary student, surnamed Yeung, and a 37-year-old man, Lam, who works in Emperor Group's property department, allegedly funded the pro-independence organization.
A spokesman of Emperor Group confirmed that one of the arrested is an employee at its property department and the person has been suspended from duty.
The group said it has been giving full assistance and cooperation with police for the investigation.
It also strongly condemned illegal and violent acts which challenged openly to the laws, and the group has always supported to safeguard the core values of Hong Kong and to build an integrated society.
Police escorted the arrested man to Emperor Group Centre in Wan Chai at 6pm for investigation. They stayed there for about 45 minutes.
The man was arrested in his home in Choi Fung Court in Ngau Chi Wan in the morning. He was then taken to a car park where officers searched a private vehicle there.
It is understood that the man has given “tens of thousands” of dollars to the arrested students to set off bombs.
A 28-year-old construction site worker, Wong, was also among the arrested. It is understood he allegedly helped purchasing explosive materials in the case.
A 15-year-old and a 19-year-old male students, surnamed Law and Cheng, were also arrested today. It is understood that they allegedly planned to set off bombs.
Last Monday (Jul 5), police arrested nine people who allegedly belonged to Returning Valiant for plotting to plant bombs across Hong Kong, including at tunnels, railway and courts.
