The husband of Centre for Health Protection's Chuang Shuk-kwan has passed away on Sunday morning due to a brain tumor, sources confirmed.
Chuang's husband, a dentist, has been staying at the Prince of Wales Hospital since early this year, around the same time when Covid-19 spread to Hong Kong.
In the meantime, Chuang, who hosts the government's almost-daily Covid-19 press briefings rushed, between her office and the hospital to care for her husband.
Her absence on November 5 and 6’s press conference give rise to speculations on his husband’s health condition.
According to reports, the health condition of Chuang’s husband worsened at 3am in the morning on November 6 before he later succumbed to his illness.
New People's Party lawmaker Regina Ip Lau Suk-yee, whose husband also passed away due to sickness, expressed her deepest condolences.
“Dr Chuang has been in almost every health press conference, while she also has to take care of her kids and her sick husband. Her dedication to work and her family is admirable and respected,” said Ip.
The Democratic Party also wrote on their Facebook page thanking Chuang’s selfless contribution to Hong Kong, asking Chuang to take good care of herself.
