HK records 10 new Covid-19 cases today, with 3 local ones untraceable

Hong Kong recorded 10 new Covid-19 infections today, including three local cases with unknown sources.

The other seven cases were imported ones from Indonesia, France, the Philippines, Serbia and Kenya, taking the SAR’s tally to 5,374 infections, with 107 deaths.

Among the three local cases was a man, 50, working at an office on Gloucester Road, Wan Chai and living in Po Nga Court, Tai Po.

He started coughing and feeling out of breath late last month, before going to the hospital on Wednesday (November 4) and got tested the following day. The last time he went back to the office was Friday (November 6).

Some 10 coworkers who worked at the same team with the patient would have to undergo quarantine, whereas his wife, who teaches at Sha Tin’s SKH. Holy Spirit Primary School, had been sent to the hospital to take the Covid-19 test as she was having a dry throat.

The school would need to suspend operation until her test result comes out negative.

Another local infection was a Pakistani house wife, 42, whose husband was also confirmed with the coronavirus last month, although the two had not met after his infection.

The woman, who lives in Yuen Long’s Leung Uk Tsuen Green Villa, was an asymptomatic patient, who took the coronavirus test at a hospital on Friday.

She came back to Hong Kong from Pakistan in early July, before staying two weeks at a quarantine camp while her Covid-19 test came out negative at that time.

The third case was a 38-year-old foreign woman, who began having a fever on October 19, causing her to stop going to her office at Champion Tower, Central.

Her whole family, who live in Crestmont Villa, Discovery Bay, had been avoiding going out since the patient developed symptoms, with her children stopped going to school and her husband not going to the office.

She took the virus test at a private doctor on Thursday (November 5), which came out positive. The Health Department would distribute test kits to her colleagues.

Meanwhile, earlier this morning, Tai Po residents rushed to Tai Po Jockey Club Clinic to get sampling bottles for Covid tests, a day after officials warned about hidden transmission in the district. A van was also sent to distribute free test kits in the area. 

A total of 90 testing bottles were all handed out within half an hour, disappointing some residents who failed to get one.
